Every time I clean up and weed the landscaping it seems that there are new weeds the very next day! It’s convenient to just spray the weeds as soon as they pop up but almost all weed killers are toxic, bad for the environment, and not safe for kids or pets. The good news is I’ve found the best DIY weed killer can be made with ingredients we already have in the kitchen!
Effective and Safe DIY Weed Killer
After some trial and error, I found that this is the easiest and most effective homemade weed killer. Plus, you can make it up in small batches from ingredients you already have in your kitchen or mix up a large batch and keep it handy to spray every day or as soon as those nasty weeds show up.

3 Natural Ingredients:
- 1 Gallon white vinegar
- 1 Cup salt
- 2 Tablespoons dish soap
DIY Weed Killer Instructions:
Pour the 1-gallon white vinegar into your sprayer. next, add your 1-cup salt into your sprayer and mix well until all the salt has dissolved in the vinegar. Finally, add in the 2-tablespoons dish soap and mix well.
Simply spray the vinegar solution onto the weeds on a hot, sunny, dry day and watch the weeds start to die.
*Warning: some weeds can take up to a couple of days to fully die and it’s best to catch weeds while before they grow too large. Spray early and often but be careful, don’t kill anything you like and want to keep.
